Alicia Garden
General Manager

Alicia joined Agsafe in November 2023, bringing a clear vision and commitment to driving positive change within the agricultural sector. With a background in mechatronic engineering and computer science, Alicia specialises in process and system design, making her a valuable asset to Agsafe's strategic planning and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

As General Manager, Alicia's primary responsibilities include formulating strategic goals and nurturing key stakeholder relationships with customers, shareholders, partners, and staff. Her expertise in technical service commercialisation, membership engagement, and policy work positions her as a dynamic leader ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities within the plant science industry.

Alicia's journey in the agriculture sector began in 2002, working in her family business in the cotton industry. Using satellite imagery and weather data, the company developed innovative crop forecasts. From 2005 to 2015, she expanded her expertise to dryland, broadacre cropping, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the field.

Notable roles in Alicia's career include serving as the CEO of Goanna Ag from 2016 to 2023, CEO of Grain Growers Limited from 2013 to 2016, and Business Manager at Agrecon. Her achievements include the successful negotiation and sale of Agrecon in 2012 and a pivotal lobbying effort in 2013, leading to Representative Organisation recognition and oversight of the $200+ million Grains Industry Research and Development Corporation annual Research and Development spend.

Alicia holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Australian National University. Her academic background, combined with her hands-on experience, positions her as a well-rounded leader ready to drive Agsafe's success.

Allan McGann
National Program Manager (drumMUSTER & ChemClear)

Allan began his journey with Agsafe in 2003 as a Field Officer and has since advanced to the role of National Program Manager for drumMUSTER and ChemClear. With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, he plays a crucial role in the development and execution of these flagship programs.

In his current position, Allan is responsible for program development, including the creation of business plans and budgeting. He oversees regional contractors and manages the dedicated staff of drumMUSTER and ChemClear, ensuring efficient and effective operations. Additionally, he handles quarterly reporting to program stakeholders, maintaining transparency and accountability.

Allan’s expertise and leadership have been instrumental in driving the success of Agsafe’s recycling and safe disposal initiatives, making a significant impact on sustainable agricultural practices across Australia.

David Leitch

David joined Agsafe in early 2018, bringing with him more than 35 years of consolidated experience in strategic partnerships, management, marketing, and business development, David Leitch brings a wealth of expertise to Agsafe as our dedicated bagMUSTER Manager.

David's extensive experience encompasses various leadership roles, demonstrating his proficiency in steering diverse projects to success. Previously, he served as the Membership Services Manager at Agsafe, where he was responsible for the engagement and retention of Agsafe members across Australia. His role included negotiating and maintaining partnership agreements with key corporate partners such as Elders, Nutrien Ag Solutions, EE Muir, Ag Warehouse, and AGnVET. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the development and marketing of industry training for Agsafe members and the broader network of retailers and manufacturers in agriculture and veterinary chemicals.

David's leadership journey includes a decade-long director's position with Master Builders ACT. In this role, he led a team of six in a marketing, sales, and management capacity. Responsible for the Association's revenue budget, David successfully orchestrated 35 key events annually, including Canberra's largest black-tie function and awards program, the Excellence in Building Awards, and seven publications. His role demanded highly-developed organisational skills, strong communication, influencing abilities, and an unwavering commitment to achieving quality outcomes.

Before his tenure with Master Builders ACT, David served as the General Manager of Radio Canberra, overseeing the operations of Radio 2CC and 2CA. David’s vast experience and proven track record in project management and leadership make him an invaluable asset to Agsafe as we continue our commitment to excellence in the agricultural industry.

Anita Jay
Marketing and Communications Manager

Anita joined Agsafe in 2024, bringing extensive experience in branding and communications. She is passionate about enhancing brand perception through strategic communication, focusing on measurable outcomes and refining strategies using insightful analytics to ensure sustained growth and stakeholder satisfaction.

At Agsafe, Anita concentrates on elevating the organisation’s market presence and communication effectiveness. Her responsibilities include developing and executing marketing and branding strategies, managing budgets, and driving impactful outreach initiatives. Since joining, she has led strategic rebranding efforts and revitalised digital and communication strategies, significantly improving Agsafe’s visibility and clarifying its mission.

Throughout her career across industries such as telecommunications, lifting and rigging, and mining, Anita has honed her expertise in marketing and communications. She is known for her versatility in content marketing, digital marketing strategy, event management, and graphic design.

Anita holds a Bachelor of Marketing and Communication from the University of South Australia and a Certificate of Management from the University of New South Wales.
